Who am I?
I’m Felice — a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN/RD) who specializes in women’s telehealthcare for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I completed my BS of Nutrition at Syracuse University, and went on to complete my MS of Clinical Nutrition and dietetic internship at the University at Buffalo. During my time at UB, I completed my thesis on nutrition and counseling approaches for PCOS. I then went on to join the work force, and ultimately ended up at Allara, a telehealth company dedicated solely to those with the condition.
I practice nutrition from the intersection of one’s dietary patterns, lifestyle, mental well-being, and relationship with their body and movement. I integrate principles of Intuitive Eating™ and Health at Every Size (HAES) at every turn. My primary goal is helping people find both joy and optimal health through food. I aim to teach patients not just what to eat, but how to eat in a way that can support their health through every lifestage.
As for my personal background, I grew up in a tight-knit family from Rochester, NY. Since before I could remember, my life was always about food. We have a motto: if you’re big enough to hold a spoon, you’re big enough to cook. So, involvement from all members of the clan was highly encouraged. In fact, my earliest memories are sitting on a barstool at my grandmother’s countertop, preparing countless ingredients and dishes in the weeks leading up to holiday meals. As I grew older, I saw my mom expressing her creativity and relieving her stress through preparing dinner for us. Through our matriarchs, my siblings and I inadvertently learned to do the same.
Food isn’t the only love of my life. I have a partner, Rolf, who loves to explore new restaurants, cuisines, and flavors of the world with me. One of our favorite past-times is walking, hiking, and playing with our droopy Basset Hound, Estelle. Believe it or not, we are teaching her to talk…with buttons! She knows about 30 words so far, and we can’t wait to hear what she has to say next.
My Work at Allara
I am Lead Dietitian at Allara, a virtual care platform for people with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). In my role, I work directly with patients, counseling them for an individualized approach to their specific symptoms and presentation. I also head the nutrition department, working with the medical providers and other registered dietitians to ensure all of our protocols and recommendations remain in line with the most recent evidence-based guidelines.
Allara offers PCOS diagnostic testing, along with a PCOS nutrition program, and combined medical and nutrition program. Allara also hosts an online community, a platform for ‘cysters’ to share, vent, and learn about the many facets of the condition.
